The Task
It Gets Better is a nonprofit with a mission to uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth around the globe. I was tasked with creating custom lettering to feature during Pride Month 2024.
My role
My role for this was to create a lettering project that evoked 'street art' and balanced design with legibility and marketability. The prompt was "Uplift, Empower, Connect Queer Youth."
The Problem
How do I digitally create work that mimics a traditionally physical medium? Where is the balance between "edgy" street art, legible merchandise, and welcoming branded messaging?
The outcome
My design was used during nationwide outreach and events throughout the summer of 2024. The lettering was used for tote bags, stickers, t-shirts, and social media graphics. My custom lettering was seen approximately tens of thousands of times across the country.
